It seems that at least under D2010 the ASM_VERSION is broken when you use UNICODE_CTRLS.
Under PAS_VERSION everything works as expected.
Example: my koldesigner (basic.dpr)

Not really an issue for me (I also use FPC, which is PAS_VERSION anyway).
But consider it a bug report :-)
