I use KOL with D7 on WinXP, so I can't help there, suffice to say that it works perfectly.
Can you provide more details of your setup please so we have something to go on.

I have and are using kol with D7 on windows7. D7 has some issues when you use it with W7. you have to turn off readonly on the D7 installation folder. After that everything works like a treat.
However I wanted to use it with D2010 (which I use for my other development). It goes like this. The first time you try to install mck you get an errormessage that it kan not access mck.bpl and something avbout an illegal adress. If you do it once again (directly) it installs and it works as expected. If I exit delphi and restart it again it is not loaded.

Which folder did you install KOL to? I do not think that it can be installed within the Program Files folder on Vista/Win7. You may also have to run as administrator.

I have installed kol to c:\kol
I have tried different version of installing as administrator and installing as normal user, running as admin and as normal user, taking ownership of different folders. you name it ;)
I still get the message (I'll try translate from swedish):
can't load package path_to_mck.bpl
an attempt was to used an illegal adress
this doesn't make sense. I'll try to install it on my old computer with xp to see if I get the same error.
Is there anyone that has succesfully installed mck on D2010?

I just tested and installed another component RX-lib. It worked fine so the problem lies within KOL-MCK.

I've found a workaround. not beautiful but it works.
in the register under package cache. I changed the "demand load package" value to 1 and now it loads as it should.
